Variable or fixed rate?

Variable gives you about the amount shown. Fixed gives you exactly that amount, if the exact amount you send arrives in time.

3 stepsReading time: about 2 minutes

Step by step

  1. Step 1 Choose the rate type on the swap card

Under the amounts, choose between the variable and the fixed rate. “You get” then shows the amount for that rate type: an estimate for variable, the exact amount for fixed.

  2. Step 2 Variable: about this amount

The final amount is set when your coins arrive at the partner, so it can end up a little higher or lower. You usually have more time to send.

  3. Step 3 Fixed: exactly this amount, if it arrives in time

You get exactly the amount shown if you send the exact amount and it arrives within the partner's time limit. A fixed rate usually costs a little more: compare the two amounts.

If something goes wrong

If your coins arrived after the time limit

The fixed rate no longer applies. The partner's terms decide what happens: it usually swaps your coins at the current rate or offers a refund. Your swap's page shows what happened.

What to do now

If you got less than the estimate

On a variable rate, the market can move until your coins arrive. The receipt shows the final rate. If the difference is bigger than you expect, send us a support request.
