Cookie policy

We use only the cookies and browser storage the website needs for what you ask it to do. We use no advertising or analytics cookies, and our pages load no content from other websites.
Contents
1. Cookies we set
We set only these cookies. Page scripts can't read them, and your browser sends them only to globalswap.io:
gs_o_followed by a swap ID: lets this browser open that swap again without its tracking link. It lasts 30 days while the swap is open, or 7 days if it is set after the swap ended. It stops working once the swap is deleted or gets a new tracking link.gs_s_followed by a request ID: lets this browser open that support request again without its link. It lasts 30 days.- For our team only, in the admin area: a sign-in session (8 hours) and a step between password and code (10 minutes). A third cookie marks a browser that signed in before, so that others' failed guesses can't lock it out (90 days).
2. Kept in your browser until you remove it
Some data is kept in your browser's local storage until you remove it. It stays on your device; a page sends us only what it needs, for example the tracking codes of the swaps listed under “Swaps on this device”, to show their status. Your browser keeps:
- the last 20 swaps created or opened in this browser, with their tracking codes, coins and amounts, for “Swaps on this device” (gs-swaps). “Forget” removes one;
- the last 20 support requests sent from or opened in this browser, with their private codes and topics, for “Your requests on this device” (gs-support-requests). “Remove” takes one off;
- your appearance setting, only if you choose dark or system (gs-theme);
- that you answered the language suggestion, so it doesn't appear again (gs-lang-hint).
3. Kept only until you close the tab
Some data is kept in your browser's session storage, only until you close the tab:
- while you create a swap: the coins, amount and rate type, the offers you saw, and the addresses and memos you entered;
- up to 5 coins you picked recently in this tab, for the coin list (gs-recent-coins);
- while the outcome of “Create swap” is unknown: that request, so a reload can't create a second swap;
- check marks you set on your swap's page, and reminders about unfinished swaps that you closed;
- your conversation with the help assistant, up to 40 entries;
- that you just sent a support request, to show the right message;
- for our team only: an unsent reply in the admin area.
4. Why we don't ask for consent
We show no cookie banner, because we use only cookies and storage that are strictly necessary for a service you ask for. The law allows this without consent (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive and the national laws based on it).
Where they involve personal data, such as a swap's tracking code, we process it to provide the swap or support request you asked for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
5. Visitor statistics without cookies
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, and it doesn't count you if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. The privacy policy explains what it counts.
We use no advertising cookies. If we ever want to use cookies for statistics or advertising, we will ask for your consent first and list them here.
6. Other websites
Links to partners, block explorers and review sites open their websites, which have their own cookie policies. Our pages load no content from them.
7. How to remove them
You can delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. This browser then no longer lists your swaps and support requests, so keep their links. “Forget” and “Remove” take a single item off the list.
Anyone who uses this browser can open the swaps and support requests it lists. On a shared device, delete the site data when you are done.
8. Changes to this policy
We publish every change of this policy on this page, with a new date.
